Zarganar, visto che il governo ostacolava i soccorsi, aveva agito di sua iniziativa, senza chiedere permessi che non sarebbero mai arrivati. Era stato fermato, interrogato e minacciato. Ieri la polizia si è presentata a casa sua, l'ha perquisita a fondo e se l'è portato via. Non è la prima volta che succede. Lui sapeva a cosa sarebbe andato incontro. In Birmania non perdonano chi aiuta la povera gente.

Even if they can't go without permission, they could assist volunteers like us who are willing to go to the villages. There are a lot of groups like us assisting refugees. Many people have received nothing from the UN and NGOs. The UN and a lot of professional organizations send their aid to the compounds of the local township authorities.
